How To Wrap Your Hands (Beginner’s Guide)

Hand wraps protect the small bones in your hand and support your wrist. Wrapping correctly is one of the first real boxing skills worth learning.

Step by step

  • Loop the thumb and bring the wrap around your wrist 3–4 times
  • Wrap across the back of the hand and around the knuckles 3 times
  • Make X-shapes between each finger for support
  • Lock the thumb, finish at the wrist, and secure the velcro

How tight?

Snug, not cutting off circulation. Make a fist — it should feel firm and supported, not painful. If your fingers tingle, loosen it.
